How Do You Put Out a Wildfire? (w/ George Locascio)

I sat down with fire ecologist George Locascio to get some answers.

George Locascio: “I began my studies of ecology with observing wildfire in the Western United States when I was a wildland firefighter. After 5 fire seasons of digging fireline, I moved back to Massachusetts to attend college. First at Bunker Hill Community College and then UMass-Amherst where I finished undergraduate and subsequently graduate school. While in graduate school I got tied into the Eastern U.S. wildland fire world by teaching fire courses and helping prescribed fire burn crews. Currently, I am teaching a fire ecology class and studying the effects of smoke on native New England seed germination at Framingham State University.”
